Hanan Adam arrived in Egypt as a refugee from Sudan five years ago. The 39-year-old lives with her seven children in 6th of October City and used to find work as a day laborer in various factories producing refrigerators and light bulbs before they started laying off Sudanese workers, she says. She took to cleaning houses instead. But now, amid the coronavirus pandemic, she is unable to find work anywhere.
