ESCWA and the Ministry of Social Solidarity in Egypt are hosting an event to launch the report titled “Social Protection: Landscape and Perspectives – Comprehensive National Review of the System and Reforms in Egypt.” This event marks the conclusion of a two-year initiative dedicated to strengthening the systematic national analysis of Egypt social protection system and providing practical technical support to national stakeholders. The project’s primary goal has been to expand social insurance coverage to include informal sector workers.
The launch workshop convenes key national stakeholders to present the main findings from the Comprehensive National Review, discuss the identified options for reform, and review the prototype for the automated identification of informal workers eligible for social insurance. These discussions are expected to contribute to the formulation of actionable steps toward building a more inclusive and effective social protection system in Egypt.
