Syrian Refugees and Youth in Lebanon 2021 – This study provides insight into the situation of Syrian refugees and youth in Lebanon. Its analysis is based on the results of the Middle East and North Africa Youth Study conducted by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, in which 1,000 young men and women in 12 countries were interviewed. Yasmine Diab highlights the economic conditions of Syrian refugees/youth as well as issues of identity and psychosocial well-being that depend on empowerment and inclusion in legal structures. In addition, young people’s views on self-expression, participation and freedom of expression are explained. The study shows that the exclusion of young Syrian refugees from national and formal systems increases their vulnerability, reduces their quality of life, and limits their options for the future.
