The Arab Region Hub for Social Protection enters 2026 building on a period of consolidation, structural strengthening, and strategic expansion. Convened by the Social Protection Program (SPP) at the Arab Reform Initiative (ARI), the Hub continues to function as a non-hierarchical, CSO-driven regional network bringing together researchers, practitioners, activists, policymakers, and organizations working on or engaging with social protection and social policy across the Arab region. As envisioned in the 2024–2025 Strategic Plan, the Hub has steadily evolved into a shared platform for knowledge production, exchange, coordination, and collective advocacy in support of a rights-based and universal vision of social protection.
Throughout 2025, the Hub translated its strategic commitments into concrete outputs and functioning infrastructure. Building on the relaunch and restructuring phase of 2024, the year marked a shift toward consolidation and content deepening. It expanded its digital ecosystem through newly curated educational resources such as the compilation of resource portals and foundational documents, strengthened its knowledge directory and monitor of news and developments, opened Blog Tadamon’s first annual call for article submissions, and launched flagship initiatives such as the bilingual glossary of social protection terms, and dedicated campaign and events pages. Regular convenings, including the annual Townhall Meeting and meetings of the Advisory Committees, reinforced collective governance, informed strategic reflection, and deepened engagement with a growing community of practice. At the same time, sustained mapping and dissemination efforts further positioned the Hub as a regional reference point for social protection knowledge, advocacy, and coordination.
The 2026 strategy builds directly on these achievements. It reflects a deliberate move from consolidation towards deeper structuring, strategic rebalancing, and thematic expansion, while preserving the Hub’s foundational principles and non-institutional character. Lessons drawn from 2025 inform the strategic orientation for the year ahead. In this next phase, the Hub seeks to strengthen sustainability and collective ownership, introduce structured capacity-building, and further support collective advocacy efforts aimed at advancing universal social protection systems across the Arab region.
