
The present issue of the Social Protection Reform Bulletin of the Arab Region reviews key social protection reforms across the Arab region in September and October 2025. The highlighted measures focus on improving targeting, strengthening governance, and ensuring the sustainability of social protection systems.
Notable developments include reforms in Bahrain, Mauritania and Oman to enhance targeting and programme effectiveness; progress in Jordan and Lebanon in implementing national social protection strategies; and a package of governance, benefit and financing reforms in Morocco. In addition, Egypt and Tunisia undertook efforts to secure and diversify funding for social protection. Overall, these developments reflect continued regional efforts to expand coverage, strengthen institutions and build more sustainable social protection systems.
