The Covid-19 pandemic has had an enormous impact in the world and in the work of the Global Coalition for Social Protection Floors, as it created a massive and unprecedented global rise in the need of social protection, with very disparate responses from different countries, due to their different capacities and also different governmental policies and ideologies. As a result inequalities have increased both within and between countries, poverty and unemployment have risen and the need for new concepts and paradigms around social protection and care in general has been highlighted in many international fora.
The GCSPF’s annual report highlights its main activities in advocating for social protection floors at global and regional political forums, disseminating position statements and research reports, and the implementation of advocacy projects in selected developing countries.
