Amnesty International is submitting this response to the call for input in advance of the Independent Expert on the enjoyment of all human rights by older persons’ report on the ‘right to social protection and the right to work of older persons’. In this document, Amnesty International sets out its reporting on this issue from several countries, particularly as social protection and the right to work intersect with armed conflict and climate change. This reporting, conducted in Lebanon, Ukraine, Pakistan, Myanmar and Nigeria, was conducted between 2019 and 2025.
