The present background paper provides an overview of how selected Arab countries delivered non-contributory social protection to respond to the socio-economic implications of Covid-19, either by scaling up existing programmes or rolling out emergency assistance schemes. The paper’s focus is on experiences and lessons learnt in the utilization and adaptation of social protection information systems, including social and beneficiary registries.
